I am currently eating cold beef ravioli out of a can, I have a presentation in an hour, I have three essays due this week, and three exams next week. Can't wait for school to end and summer to begin. *sigh*

A Dose of Vitamin D
It's funny what a little bit of nice weather can do to a campus filled with over-tired, over-worked students. In an area used to rainy, bitter, below zero weather, residents are outside: reading, running, hula hooping, kicking a soccer ball around, or lazing on picnic blankets in the deliciously warm rays. This little taste of summer will help us to get through these next torturous two weeks. *SIGH*

I and Love and You
Ok, so I'm very excited for summer to come. In just four weeks, I will be barefoot, eating lots of watermelon, and wearing shorts and tanktops. But, most of all, I am excited for a concert I will be attending.
Recently, I was introduced to the Avett Brothers, and fell in love. Their folk-like music is so happy-go-lucky, yet peaceful so that their sound is addicting-- I find myself humming their songs through my classes and getting ready to them in the mornings.
Anyway, I was looking over their tour dates and locations, and found a concert in my hometown in June. Naturally and without a second thought, I bought a ticket (good idea? I think yes).
Here's a little taste of their hit "I and Love and You."
Enjoy!

Honey, I'm Home!
Have you ever thought about your dream house? How each room will look and feel and smell? What your bedroom/bathroom/kitchen will look like? I received a book for Christmas this past year entitled The Archaeology of Tomorrow by Travis Price which explores new architectural ideas for the modern home. I was enthralled by the potential my dream house could have!

Let's just say that visiting the Walter Gropius house in Lincoln, Massachusetts was a life changing experience.

Keep It Simple Stupid
Have you ever thought about how simple life is, but how complicated we seem to make it? I was thinking about the busy day I have planned for tomorrow and how I wish my Fridays could be spent in a more relaxing way. But what we think of as hectic, others may think of as uncomplicated. For me, being in class for an hour, volunteering at a nearby nursing home for three hours, then having practice for three hours constitutes a busy day. But I am reminded of those that cannot afford to go to school, those that are physically unable to play sports, and the residents of the nursing home that look forward to my visit once a week. I am glad that I am not one of those that has to work 12 hours straight in a cubicle at a minimum wage job, or those that have no where to go; no one to see. All in all, life isn't so bad. Even the "busiest" of days cannot be fully unappreciated. Just take each day as it comes.

America's Favorite Cookie
A friend of mine told me she was giving up sweets for lent. Naturally, I pulled out the Oreo Cookies and slyly waved them beneath her nose. She cracked beneath the pressure (haha!) and removed the cookies from their sheath. We were both enjoying our cookies when I happened to look over and see her piling frosting atop a single cookie.
I watched as she took cookie after cookie, eating the outer chocolate cracker then placing the frosting atop an already heaping pile (with double stuffed Oreos, she made herself a sextuple stuffed one). For me, I simply like to dip them in milk until they are nice and soft, then nibble away. I guess we all have our own methods. What are some of yours?

How Blessed We Are
Sometimes we forget just how lucky we are. As I sit through yet another athletic motivational speech funded by the University, I'm reminded of how far I've come, and how blessed I am to have been able to make it this far.
As a sixth grader, I decided to take up field hockey. My mother had played in high school, and since none of my other siblings played, I stepped up to the challenge. I was given a hand-me-down stick, most likely from the 70s, bought new shin guards, shiny new cleats, and a new mouth guard. I was ready to roll. Then tryouts came along. My first day was miserable: I was clumsy, uncoordinated, and slow. I recall telling my mom that I planned to quit; there was simply too much running involved. A few days later, after determining that I would stick it out for just a season, I made the A team, where only the most skilled and conditioned middle schoolers played. I was pretty good, if I do say so myself. The next year I was a captain, and the year after that, a leading scorer. By the time I got to high school, I was fully prepared to take on Varsity players from around the state. After playing four years of high school hockey, captaining, leading in goals, and playing for the state all star team, I was recruited to play for an extremely successful university.
And I almost gave it all up because I didn't like to run two laps around a 100 yard field. Ha.

Lost and Found
So, recently I have become addicted to this website where notes and drawings that were recovered from between pages of books, left in the gutter, or simply stumbled upon are posted online. To read them just brightens my day and I find that I keep telling myself, "just one more...just one more...just one more"
Here are a few to sample,

Well, Hello there.
Well, here goes:
Writing has always been my thing. Whether it's a poem or an essay, a letter or simply a personal journal entry, it's that emotional release that acts as a kind of drug when putting a pen to paper (or fingers to the keys, for that matter). To be able to express a collage of one's own thoughts is a magnificent thing, and that is what I aim to do here.
Call me Cordelia. I am simply a college student, studying Anthropology in a small town in the middle of no where (literally). I aspire to one day be an archaeologist; rummaging through Egyptian artifacts and making a name for myself. However, every professor I've spoken to about my career choice warns that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Instead of adventurously coming across ancient boobie trapped tombs with a worn fedora placed jauntily upon my head, I am told it will consist of sand slicked skin, sunburn, and, above all, boredom...thanks a lot for getting my hopes up...
I come from a large family of four girls and three boys, and am sixth in the lineup. We love to be together, eat together, and, most importantly, make fun of each other. What better way to say I love you, right?
Being one of the youngest, it's hard to watch older siblings go away to school, get married, and move on with their lives; the house grows larger and quieter with the decreasing number of residents. But now I find that it is my time to leave home, and it breaks my heart. I feel so young, but now is my time to figure out who I am.
Besides family, I love to read, eat, run, take photos of anything and everything, listen to music, and try new things, a blog being one of them. I think I'm doing pretty well so far, huh?
Until next time,
Cordelia
